6 Surprise Steps to a Healthy Family

A few months ago, I was asked to give a motivational speech at a ‘healthy eating’ conference.   Needless to say, I was delighted, and I delivered in true Our Lady of Weight Loss form.

After my talk, I milled about and mixed it up with the participants!

A very nice man who meant no harm, I am sure, shared with me that his wife “was fat and needed to lose weight.”   He wasn’t sure how he was going to ‘get her’ to follow his new healthy eating plan.

Another woman pulled me aside and with great concern.  She told me that her 16-year old daughter was eating more and more and getting heavier and heavier.  Whenever she broached the topic, a fight ensued.  What to do?


Truth be told, you cannot make people do what you want them to do.  You can have influence; but you do not have control.   And the best way to influence, is to lead by example.

Embrace your healthy journey.
Shop for fruits and vegetables with enthusiasm.
Cook with love.
Glow happy and healthy.
Be generous.  Give hugs and compliments with sheer abandon.
Practice loving-kindness.

Bottom Line: Heavy handed preaching never works.   Go ‘lite!’

    So happy to see that you are back. You were missed. Another thing that does not help is to be abusive with your comments or actions.
