The Wall Street Journal reports that this Memorial Day Weekend, normally a blockbuster box office weekend, is one that Hollywood may wish for a mulligan.

Disney’s “Tomorrowland” didn’t bring out the numbers, as expected. Granted, there are numerous other summer “hits” to come, including “Jurassic World” and “Minions”, but this wasn’t what we expected.

Honestly, neither was Memorial Day weekend for some! The Midwest (Texas, Oklahoma) saw major rains and flooding, while the West Coast (California mostly) is focused on their epic drought. The contrasting beautiful beach weather on the East Coast kept most weekenders outdoors.

No matter how you look at it, “Tomorrowland” so far has been more a “John Carter” than a “Maleficent”…but we think “Inside Out” should make us forget all about Memorial Day Weekend!
