In what was one of the highlights of last night’s Grammy Awards, Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin performed a moving deut of “Never Gonna Break My Faith” with gospel star BeBe Winans. In addition, gospel artists The Clark Sisters, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, and Isreal and New Breed–who later won the Grammy for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album, “A Deeper Level”–performed a variety of popular gospel songs along with The Madison Bumblebees choir.Check out the video below for the complete gospel performance. And, be sure to read these Beliefnet interviews with two of last night’s big winners, Israel Houghton and jazz great Herbie Hancock, who among other awards, won the much-coveted Grammy for Album of the Year for “River: The Joni Letters,” which was only the second time a jazz album has won in that catagory (and the last time was 43 years ago).
