Angels on Your Shoulder

Come to the edge, he said.
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge, he said.
They came.
He pushed them,
And they flew …..
– Guillaume Apollinaire

My mind is swimming with thoughts today; instead of a gentle trickle, it feels more like a flood-driven raging river, and I have learned over the years that’s a good thing.

Human beings are such an interesting species. I have never seen an Angel Barbie, something that would be comforting and perhaps help children deepen their spiritual connection. Maybe its just me, but a vampire Barbie seems rather odd.

The Angel Valley Sweet lodge has been in the news a lot since the tragic death of three participants. Today I read an article about sweat lodges that really gave me a lot to think about.

I frequently lead retreats and in June when I was in Sedona, we had a sweat lodge. Before we entered the sweat lodge, I told people that if they weren’t sure or if they didn’t feel well, there was no error in leaving. The article by James Bergstrom talked a great deal about the spiritual aspect of sweat lodges.

When I first read about the deaths in the Angel Valley Sweat lodge, my first thought was, “There but for the grace of God.” When I work with people, it is always my intent to help them deepen their connection to their divinity. I have had two people hurt at my retreats in the past twenty years, and I am grateful they have been relatively minor injuries.

No matter what the question, love is always the answer. So I guess if you really love vampires, a Twilight Barbie is something you would really enjoy.  Who am I to judge?

LIfe is as it is. I am sure there were lots of angels at that sweat lodge, and my hunch is angels have no problem with vampire Barbies. I send my thoughts and prayers to everyone. My mind is still whirling, and I know that is the sign I am about to have a wonderful ah ha that I will no doubt share with you when it occurs.

With love and aloha,

Angels are everywhere just open your mind and your heart to the signs.
