Daily Prayer

I feel as if I have not done
one single thing right today.
This day has been one failure
after another:
failures at work
failures at home
failures with friends.

I feel worthless and tired.
Incapable of being
the person I want to be.

And yet, You love me still.
My family, friends and coworkers
love me still.
Thank You for such unconditional love.

Tonight I ask you to help me
forgive myself
for the mistakes of the day,
and to wake me in the morning
with the beautiful realization that,
once again, You have made me new.

Ever notice how those heart-warming stories are always set in the distant past? We're living in a time of high unemployment and the worst economy in decades, yet, I was in the malls at holiday time and no one was buying oranges.

Newsweek had a cover story recently: Money to Burn, Why Americans Can't Stop Spending...
