The Bible contains many foods and natural remedies that can help us live healthier lives.

There are many foods and natural remedies listed in the Bible; however, you don't need to be dogmatic when it comes to applying them into your own lives. Just because a person in the Bible had success with a food or a natural remedy doesn't mean this will happen in every situation. For example, when Jesus healed the blind man with the mud He made from the ground, it was a miracle (John 9:6-7). Jesus was capable of miracles because He is God (John 1:).

With this in mind, you can still appreciate various foods and natural remedies from the Bible without placing an unhealthy emphasis on them. By incorporating these foods and natural remedies into your life in a healthy way, it can help you to have an overall better quality of life. While your physical or mental illnesses will not be completely cured by a specific food or a natural remedy, these items can benefit you.

Manna

Manna is a food listed in the Bible with powerful properties (Exodus 16). Exodus 16:31 says, “The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.” Manna was a small, but powerful food that provided the Israelites with all of the nourishment and nutrients that they needed. While they were wandering for forty years in the desert, manna and quail was all Israel had to live on.

While manna would not heal a person, it did provide a person with enough nutrients to keep going. Within modern terms, we could liken manna to bread. Everyone needs bread to keep going. Bread gives strength to our bones and energy to face the day. By having physical bread and the Bread of Life, Jesus, you will be able to weather any storm (John 6:35).

Honey

Within the Gospel of Matthew, we read about Jesus’ cousin, “John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey” (Matthew 3:4). John the Baptist prepared the way for the Lord and his only food was locusts and wild honey. This would be a shocking diet for most people to take up, yet for John, he was simply living off the land.

Honey is very beneficial to you as it can help heal colds, boost immunity, and protect heart health. Add honey to your tea, bread, or smoothies for an extra dose of antioxidants. Honey is a naturally healing food and remedy that we can easily find at your local grocery store.

Hyssop

The Bible states, “Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow” (Psalm 51:7). Hyssop was often used in cleansing and it smelled sweet. Both literally and symbolically, hyssop has been connected to cleansing. When the psalmist says to clean him with hyssop and he will be clean, it is referring to the future prophecy of being cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. Through Jesus, you are cleansed of your sins and given a new life through His Name.

During the Passover, hyssop was placed along the doorways. These were the instructions given to Israel, “Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning” (Exodus 12:22). Hyssop was a very important herb to Israel and we can also use this herb in our life as well. Although you won't need to place it on our doorways, you can use it for respiratory issues, inflammation, and digestive issues.

Eating a Healthy Meal & Getting Some Rest

During Elijah’s life, he was being pursued by Jezebel (1 Kings 19:3-9). She wanted to kill him and had sent people out on a manhunt to find Elijah. Elijah became overwhelmed, sat down, and cried out for the Lord to end his life. God sent an angel to comfort Elijah, ravens to feed him, and allowed him to take a good nap. All of these things helped to renew hope in Elijah to complete the task God had for him.

Sometimes in your own life, this is all that you need too. You just need to eat a healthy meal and take a nap. This is a natural remedy to your struggles and it can help you to keep going when you feel you have reached your end point. Turn to the Lord today, squeeze in a healthy meal, and settle down for a nice afternoon nap. You will feel revitalized once you awaken.

The Blood of Jesus

The Apostle Peter tells us, “‘He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed’” (1 Peter 2:24). The sacrifice of the Lord brings your heart to a humble position. By Jesus sacrificing His life for your own, you have been given the greatest natural remedy. This isn't a natural remedy from a scratch or a burn, but a remedy from eternal separation from God and eternal torment.

Through the blood of Jesus, you have been made new and forgiven of your sins. You no longer have to fear death because the Lord is waiting for you on the other side. Although you will face many trying times on this earth and you will need various modes of healing, whether through doctors or healthier foods, the blood of Jesus is the only remedy that can save your soul and give you lasting peace.

Everyone enjoys hearing about the benefits of certain foods and natural remedies in the Bible. Try out a few of these foods and natural remedies yourself to see if they benefit your overall well-being. Most of all, make sure you have accepted the blood of Jesus and take hold of the eternal life that is yours in Christ.
