Use Your Talent at the Local Nursing Home
Too often we hide our talents. Mainly, because most of us didn’t take the hours and hours required to fine tune the talent. So, we tend to blow it off as not worth mentioning. But our talents are worth our attention, and people in nursing homes are our best supporters and audiences.
Can you play a few songs on the piano? Can you recite a poem? Do you draw or paint? Do you collect rocks? Did you build a model car? Did you repair a shoe? Did your child just learn how to tie a shoe?
Well, folks in nursing homes love to hear and see all this. I’ve even discovered, that these folks have a wealth of knowledge that when listened to, teach us how to keep improving our talents. Best of all, these folks don’t have unreasonable expectations. I can return the next month, or year, and still feel encouraged, although I made what seems to be negligible progress.
