Are you ready to get rid of negativity? To define, negative energy is a thought or a feeling that makes you feel stuck or unable to break free. Its source is mainly fear, sometimes conscious and often unconscious fear. Here, you will learn to identify when it tries to invade your life and strengthen your thoughts to beat it.
You don’t have to allow any of these 6 negative energy types to interfere in your life.
Stress and Anxiety
There is no doubt that there is a strong correlation between stress and mental health. If you let the negativity of anxiety control your life, you will hold yourself back from accomplishing many things you want to do. The most worrying problem is when someone ignores the symptoms of anxiety and tries to push them aside. In the long run, this will only generate more negative energy in your life. With most adults saying they have some level of stress in their life, it’s not surprising that negativity spreads so easily.
Fortunately, using relaxation techniques and exercise can relieve these problems. Nervousness, fear, and stress can be hard to overcome, but you can work with a therapist to find outlets and gain control of your emotions.
Bad Moods and Depression
Being in dark and depressive moods has a terrible effect on your mental and physical health. It may seem normal, but bad moods actually get in the way of you being able to think clearly. They can have serious negative consequences to social interactions as well. It’s important to be in-touch with your emotions, so that you can pinpoint when you are feeling depressed and understand how to take control of it. First, take a few minutes to breathe and reflect. This alone can begin to calm you! Short breathing exercises will relax your mind and prevent it from “running away” or allowing you to try and burry your feelings down. Identify what caused the negative spiral, and act appropriately to get rid of them.
We have all been told at some point that complaining about a situation will not help to solve it. Despite this, many of handle negative energy by complaining constantly anyways. It instead becomes an obstacle to overcome and a source of toxic energy. If you become someone that complains about most everything, it will eventually begin to push away your friends and family. They will want to stay away from your harmful thoughts, even if they tried to give you advice and listen to you previously.
When you are angry and frustrated with a situation, reduce how much you complain and try to focus on being positive. Pause and tell yourself “I will not let negative energy control me here” so that you can decrease the urge to complain. This also helps eliminate any additional negativity in the environment and situation you are in.
Negative energy doesn’t only affect a person’s mental state, but also can have a negative impact on their physical being. There are many common bodily reactions to mental negativity, such as muscle pains, loss of sleep, and tension headaches. This can snowball and give more power to depression and anxiety. Being in pain may make you feel frustrated, sad, or nervous.
Depending on the type of pain you are in, doing something enjoyable, relaxation techniques, and reduction of stress may help relieve some of this negative energy. Treating your body properly by maintaining a good diet and engaging in regular exercise will also help banish the negative energy from affecting you in physical ways.
People that do little to banish the negative energy around them have problems maintaining and keeping long lasting relationships. Interacting with others may feel exhausting when you are constantly filled with bad moods, and can even be uncomfortable. When you feel yourself being controlled by negativity, find some time to spend by yourself to reflect. In addition, you can open up to a trusted friend about your problems. Good communication and active listening can be some of the best ways to get over this issue.
On the other side, you may be maintaining relationships with people that are bringing you down. Ask yourself if you are spending significant amounts of time with coworkers, friends, or family that are highly emotional people, use drugs and alcohol, or are simply negative and toxic. When you spend time around people with a high level of negative energy, you are opening yourself up for the possibility of bringing that negative energy home with you each day. Learn to remove these type of people from your life or limit your time spent with them.
These are very easy to identify, because it is only when you enter a certain space that you feel drained, irritated, or low. Other places though, you feel normal. This may be because you have negative thoughts and feelings towards this space, such as your work office, hospitals, or even your own home. For example, you may work at a place of high emotional hostility, such as an elderly home or for a police department, and have a hard time adjusting to the negative energy that typically surrounds these places.
When in these negative spaces close your eyes and take a deep breath. Ask yourself questions like “what about this area brings me negativity” or “do I have negative attachments blocking this area from peace.” Learn what is causing the negativity in this space, and work to remove it.
Clearing Negative Energy
It might come easy for you to identify negative energies in your life, but it might not be as easy to eliminate them. You can clear out negative energy by first taking ownership. Take responsibility for your feelings, and do not blame them on someone else. In the famous words of the Dalai Lama, “When you think everything is someone else’s fault, you will suffer a lot. When you realize that everything springs only from yourself, you will learn both peace and joy.”
Next, cancel negative thoughts and learn to replace them with positive ones. This will take practice, dedication and requires you to make the active choice that you want to banish negative energy daily. Catch yourself whenever you are thinking, “what will go wrong” and instead change it to “what will go right?” Remember, you are responsible for your feelings. Don’t blame outside forces when your life goes wrong. Instead, gain the courage to accept that you create your life experience.
Nobody wants negative energy to permeate their lives, yet many of us allow it. So instead, why no choose positive energy? Make some changes within, and you’ll quickly see positive changes in your life.
