Qur'an, Al-Imran, Surah 3:133-35

Vie with one another for forgiveness from your Lord and for a Paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who fend off evil, for those who spend (in His way) in comfort and in hardship, who control their anger and forgive their fellow beings simply because Allah loves the charitable; and if they ever commit evil, or wrong their souls, they remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins, for who save Allah can forgive, and do not knowingly persist in wrongdoing.
