Do It Today - What If Tomorrow Never Comes

God had given me the opportunity to preach a sermon on this topic several months ago. As I began to meditate and study about this very topic, it gave me a reality check about myself. It made me realize how often I put off doing things and say, “I will get to it tomorrow.” Some of those things were of importance or it could have been just as simple as a phone call to a loved one or friend. When I really started to think about it, there were so many other things I had put off on a daily basis that I could hardly believe myself. But the second part of that after dot, dot, dot states, “what if tomorrow never comes?” That really gave me something to think about and I had to self examine myself. What if my tomorrow did not come and the simplest thing I put off on that day never got done? What if what seemed like a simple task or gesture would have made a difference in someone else’s life or my life and I never got to it? Not overwhelming my life because there is only so much a person can do in a day but the things that matter the most, I no longer put off from doing. I had to make that change inwardly in order for it to change outwardly. I had to start prioritizing my day by doing things that would make a difference. It’s amazing how a reality check as simple as this can push you to change and think about life in an entirely different way. So many wonderful things have taken place since that time in my life. Now I will pose the same question to you, “what if tomorrow never come?” Are you going to consider and start to make changes in your life for the better by doing whatever your “it” is today or will you continue to put “it” off until a “maybe” tomorrow? It’s up to you.

“Why, do you not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
