Other than the football part, it was a very realistic nightmare. She was standing mid-field, ready to punt the football. But the goal post kept moving. First it was center then it shifted right. Then left. Then back center again but further back in the end zone.

That’s what’s happening at work and Devin is in misery. There hasn’t been a day in months when she leaves her office with a sense of accomplishment. How could she? Devin hasn’t made any progress on her project since July. Not so coincidentally, that was when she got a new boss, who is constantly changing the game plan.

There are some who have the gift of leadership. They have a clear vision, they’re able to give good direction and they bring out the best in their team. Sadly, Devin’s boss is lacking those qualities. She waits (impatiently) for change and tries to maintain a pleasant countenance.

Prayer is her cheerleader these days. With God as her true leader, Devin deals with being miserable work. Morning, noon, and night, she prays and trusts that God will give her the strength she needs to hang in there just a little bit longer.
