"If one sees a great crowd, one should thank God for not having made them all of one mind. For just as each person’s face is different from another, so is each person’s mind different from any other mind."
Talmud (Berakhot) 58a
Friendships are typically formed based on shared values and interests. Yet it's the differences between two people that make a good friendship interesting and fulfilling. In this passage from Berakhot (Talmud: Ancient Rabbinical Writings) you hear from the great sages how the unique qualities which form us, come from God. We're reminded to give thanks to the Lord for the differences in His children, and the importance of appreciating those who are unlike ourself.
