anything-goes

The Truth About Soy – Can it Cure Hot Flashes or Osteoporosis? Shhhlurp – the headline sucked me in. I was surfing the web when I found  a wonderful women’s health site, pink and smart with interesting articles on topics I care about.  Debunking band-wagon nutrition trends happens to be hobby of mine, and when I saw the banner about soy, I knew I had to read more.

“Soy, by and large, has positive effects – more positive for some than others,” says nutrition researcher Thomas M. Badger, Ph.D. “But the effects aren’t large.”

Aha! No clear-cut proof about the miraculous health benefits of the little green bean. More nebulous conclusions and differing point-of-views concerning how I can best respect my body through food. I can only conclude: Anything goes!

Sometimes that’s how it is. Just as diet wisdom can be a free-for all, matters of the spirit don’t always come with conclusive evidence either.  Find your own truths and cure what ails you with prayer.

There is More

There is a pattern to sunlight
dancing soft shadows
across the morning trees.

There is an order, even to the current,
flowing towards tumbling waterfalls.

There is destiny based on choices,
and a calling to those who search.

There is more here than even a poet
can pen at dawn, and a philosopher
can surmise from the pages of time.

There is more, and for that I am thankful.
