Maybe Will Rogers was right when the actor said society is really changing when it came to politics. He said “People are taking their comedians seriously and the politicians as a joke.” Fast forwards years later, in fact we do get our news and facts from comedians and their shows like John Stewart, and others. Politicians on the other hand may be seen as a joke, but we also like to poke fun at their comments, and roll our eyes. There have been some winners over the years, some we can still recall George Bush’s “Read my lips,” quotes, and Richard Nixon’s “I’m not a crook” explanation after the Watergate cover up. But let’s indulge ourselves in a little laughter, and eye rolling with some of the crazy statement politicians have said.
Bill Clinton
Oh, Bill you didn’t go there! “I would never approach a small-breasted woman,” said Bill Clinton.
Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin was announced at Republican National Convention in 2008 as John McCain’s running mate, and has had a string of quotes that put a bulls eye on her campaign. Her interview with Katie Couric didn’t help. It’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send out those to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia.”
Mitt Romney
Former Governor Mitt Romney said in 2012 that “I'm not concerned about the very poor that have a safety net but if it has holes in it, I will repair them.' The challenge right now -- we will hear from the Democrat party the plight of the poor. And there's no question it's not good being poor and we have a safety net to help those that are very poor. But my campaign is focused on middle-income Americans." Romny's net worth was an estimated 250 million in 2012.
Barack Obama
President Barack Obama told a crowd that his grandmother was atypical white lady in 2008. "The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person.”
Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan’s view on the environment was “Approximately 80 percent of our air pollution stems from hydrocarbons released by vegetation, so let's not go overboard in setting and enforcing tough emission standards from man-made sources.”
Donald Trump
He’s not a politician, but businessman Donald Trump mega personality and ego is making for fine entertaining. Least he’s speaks his mind. "When was the last time anybody saw us beating, let’s say, China in a trade deal? They kill us. I beat China all the time."
