Josefina Eugenia Vázquez Mota, Candidate for President of Mexico
She is an economist, businesswoman and politician – the first woman to win such a nomination in Mexico. A leader of the National Action Party, she and husband Sergio have three daughters. Josefina was elected to Mexico's national parliament, but resigned in 2006 to help Felipe Calderón win the presidency. She served as his Political Liaison Coordinator, then Secretary of Public Education and now has his endorsement. Recently she won 55 percent of the vote in their party’s national primary election.
