Most of us have a list in our heads of what a perfect marriage looks like. We want someone to check off a certain set of ideals in order for them to be the perfect mate. These can be general items, like being funny and smart, to being more specific traits like being a good cook and wants children. But do these ideas really determine if someone is going to make a great partner?

While all these ideals are great, there are some that you probably haven’t thought of that go deeper than surface level wishes. There are some less obvious signs that someone will make a great husband or wife that you shouldn’t miss. While you think you know what a perfect spouse looks like, you might have forgotten some of these key points that really could determine if you are dating someone that is compatible.

Fights are going to happen. No matter what type of relationship, fights are just a part of life. Most couples have fights early on in their relationship which makes it easy to see if they have any long-term, marriage compatibility. When you are fighting with someone, are you the type of person that wants to argue immediately until there is a solution or do you want to go on a walk and clear your head before speaking? Are you naturally calm when you are upset or someone that lets their emotions flow? Fights can bring out the worst in us, but you want to find someone that fights similarly to you. If you are naturally quiet in fights, you will not handle someone screaming at you well.
