6 Signs You Are Moving in Together Too Early

Are you looking to make the next step in your relationship? For many couples, moving in together seems like a logical, cost-effective next step. You get to each save money on bills, you have someone to help you out around the house, and you get to have your lover home with you each night.

But for many couples, there is a sever lack of planning before they make this next step. They don’t have a lot of forethought which can have a huge negative impact on the relationship later on. There are many reasons why you shouldn’t move in with your partner yet that are completely valid. They do not mean that you guys can’t move in together one day, you simply just might not be ready yet.

Before you make that huge next step, make sure you aren’t moving in together too early. Here are the signs that you are.

Other people are uneasy about the move-in.

If you’re current roommate, friends or parents are showing signs of being uneasy about you two living together, you might want to stop and listen. Sometimes our close circle can see things about our partner that we can’t due to being blinded by love. If they have valid arguments and concerns it’s respectful to at least consider their thoughts. This is especially true if you live with other people. While you might feel ready to have the relationship move in that direction, your current roommates have a say as well. Moving in together isn’t just about love, it’s a practical choice as well. If it raises the stress level of everyone in the house, then it might be better to wait.

You think it could solve your relationship problems.

Just like getting married or having a baby, moving-in together will never solve your relationship problems. Moving in isn’t going to resolve the deep issues you have with your partner, and instead will only serve as a temporary band-aid. Being in close quarters together will only intensify any anger, stress, and resentment you have. You need to identify what is really wrong in your relationship and come up with practical ways to solve those issues. This might mean doing the opposite of moving in together and mean actually taking time apart. Put your new plan into action and over time your relationship will get stronger.
