Crescent Italian Cake

Ingredients

3 pounds ground meat
1 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon crushed oregano
1/2 teaspoon basil
2 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (4-ounce) can mushrooms, drained
1 (8-ounce) carton sour cream
2 cans crescent dinner rolls
1 pound shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

Brown the meat: In a large skillet, brown the ground meat and chopped onion until cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
Prepare the filling: To the meat mixture, add the salt, pepper, oregano, basil, tomato sauce, sour cream, and drained mushrooms. Stir well to combine.
Assemble the rolls: Unroll the crescent dinner roll dough. Evenly spread the meat mixture onto the triangles, roll them up, and place them into a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
Add cheese and bake: Top the rolls with the shredded cheddar cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for approximately 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are golden.
