“The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.” Thomas Merton
If more people applied this quote to their relationship lives, there would be a lot more people content in their relationships, on the road to happiness. Sometimes, we get so caught up in trying to create the perfect partner that we don’t embrace who our partner truly is. A healthy relationship isn’t about molding a person, but about accepting a person for who they are. If you spend all your time trying to twist them to fit your own image, your relationships will continue to fail.
