Helping Your Teen to Date ‘God’s Way’

“Dating is a crucial part of the teen years,” writes Shannon Perry. “With access to so many ways of meeting people in today’s culture, how can teens conduct their dating life ‘God’s way?’ 2 Corinthians 6:14 says, ‘Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.’ To date ‘God’s way,’ there are several questions to consider: 1) Is there an older accountability partner who will pray with the teen and hold them accountable? 2) Has the teen prayerfully designed a list of qualities they would like in a mate and discussed that list with a trusted adult? 3) Is the teen asking God for direction in their dating life? 4) Is the teen unwavering when it comes to dating one who demonstrates ‘Christ-like’ behavior?”
