On April 19, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, students at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, armed themselves and opened fire on students outside the school. After killing one student, they entered the building and continued their rampage. As they did, business teacher Dave Sanders ran through the cafeteria shouting at kids to get down, then headed upstairs to protect others. He soon met with one of the shooters, and lost his life. But because of his concern for others and quick response, Sanders saved the lives of many people that day.
