It's OK to be Creative

You’re a creative person, and it’s tough. It’s tough because the world seems to operate with technical people, people with science and math degrees, people who land great jobs.

You’re a creative person, and it’s what people call a gift, but you don’t always feel that way because your “gift” doesn’t pay the bills or get awards or any recognition. Sometimes, maybe you don’t want to be a creative person.

God, however, designed us to be mirrors of his image, and if you have a mind that sees in pastels, that strings together words, that plays music, then you’re just who you were meant to be. God has created you for a purpose, so how do we embrace our creativity and honor God through it?

A Need

This world needs creative people. It is a thirsty world, begging for beautiful words and music and photos. Consider how we stop and marvel at art and photos that speak or God’s majesty. Consider how much we love to be entertained. This world has a need for people to create in the name of God, to bring him glory through work.

We need creativity because it would be a boring life without it. Not that non-creative fields are boring, but that there is a desire in people to find peace in the arts. That is why athletes fire up before a game with headphones tuned to their ears. That is why families seek nature outside of their suburban homes. That is why people flock to libraries and bookstores. You are needed.
