Inspiring Words to Celebrate Children
Inspiring Words to Celebrate Children
There are over 2,000 references in the bible on the blessing of children and the importance of helping children in need. Scripture throughout the bible clearly calls us as Christian men and women to protect, educate, provide for and cherish all children, ours and those who are orphaned or in need. Here are just a few of those bible verses.
Humble Yourself Like a Child
In Matthew Chapter 18 versus 2-6, Jesus called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."
Children Are a Heritage from the Lord
Children Are a Heritage from the Lord
Psalm 127:3 says, “Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him”. Parents are called to take pleasure in their children. They should never be viewed as a sign of God’s displeasure or his punishment for sin. Rather, children are the fruit of the womb and a reward for God’s love. Their zest, laughter, excitement and unique way of viewing things adds beauty to our everyday life.
Building a Foundation for Children
Building a Foundation for Children
Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” What foundations are you building in your children? Are allowing the world to create the foundation, or are you protecting your children from the world? Who or what has the most influence in your child’s life? Where are they getting their training? Where is most of their time spent? We are called as parents to raise our children in a fashion that is honoring to God so that they will be able to live a life that is pleasing to God.
Look After the Orphans
Look After the Orphans
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” James 1:27. This scripture should speak to the heart of all Christians in that the purity of our faith or religion is most clearly seen in our doing what is right, loving others and ceasing from sin. As Christians we are not called to just write a check or make a donation in this scripture, we are called to take care of the needs; physical and spiritual of widows and orphans.
