6 Times to Call On the Angels of Mercy

Have you ever felt utterly hopeless, totally heartbroken, completely defeated or monumentally exhausted? The experience probably also made you feel, at times, extremely alone. But during your last big crisis, whether you were aware of it or not, you were already being supported by an elite yet very large group of angelic entities called the Angels of Mercy, who specialize in bringing mercy into a situation when it is needed most. When someone cries out for help from Spirit in desperation, terror or hopelessness, often Spirit sends an Angel of Mercy to answer that call.

Angels of Mercy can be found on battlefields and in hospitals, and Angels of Mercy are always nearby when someone is experiencing cruelty, injustice or terrible suffering. Just like first responders will rush into a burning building as the occupants are running out, so will Angels of Mercy fly to where the world's pain and darkness are greatest so that they can shine their healing light. They cannot always miraculously change a situation or eradicate the suffering of those involved. But they can bring miracles, both big and small, and guide humans toward navigating the most advantageous route through challenges. Like all angels, Angels of Mercy can bring guidance, opportunities and helpful people into your life. Angels of Mercy can also help you manage the complex emotions that come with crisis.

When You Are Experiencing a Health Crisis

Facing a devastating diagnosis, serious injury or any major health-related issue can be terrifying. Ask an Angel of Mercy to keep you calm, so you can concentrate on healing or managing your condition, or supporting a loved one who is ill. In addition to talking through your fears with loved ones and health-care professionals, or practicing meditation and other calming techniques, Angels of Mercy can help shift your energy away from anxious thoughts and even use their own energy to help reset and rebalance yours.

When You Feel Hopeless & Don’t Know the Way Forward

A wonderful thing about angels is that they can always see hope in a situation—hope that is not just wishful thinking but very real. This ability to recognize hope is especially true of Angels of Mercy. However, finding hope in your challenge does not mean getting attached to one specific outcome. Whatever you are facing, call on an Angel of Mercy to make you feel hopeful about a resolution. But stay open-minded, and ask an Angel of Mercy to send you signs about which resolution or path you should be pursuing. Angels of Mercy can encourage you to keep pushing forward and send you guidance about best next steps. Here's a general prayer to send out to an Angel of Mercy when you feel hopeless and confused:

Angels of Mercy, show me that no situation is ever hopeless. Let me feel your enthusiasm and confidence about the enormous mercy and grace available to me right now and always. Show me which star I should be following as I travel this road forward, and send me signs so I can feel your presence and know that I do not travel this road alone.

When You Must Accept Something Very Painful

There are hard truths about life on earth, and heartbreaking pain that cannot be avoided. People die. Romantic partnerships can end. Friends may grow apart. Businesses go under. Feelings get hurt. Goals aren’t met. Finances flounder.

At times the silver lining can be difficult to find, and even when you do there is still the need to accept a devastating loss—and all the emotions that go with it. Once you’ve done everything that is within your power to influence the outcome, surrendering to the situation, and your feelings, can be a very peaceful act. When Life Becomes Overwhelming

Stretches of the human journey seem like more than we can handle. If your life feels extremely full—either with good stuff, bad stuff, or just too many commitments, people, responsibilities and emotions—ask an Angel of Mercy to help you take a time out.

During that time out, perhaps 15 minutes each day, think about what you can take off your plate, postpone, delegate, or ask a loved one, coworker or health-care provider to assist you with. Remember that you may be carrying more than you are comfortable with, but everyone experiences this sensation, temporarily, from time to time. Look for ways to support and nurture yourself. Eat right, get enough rest, stay in touch with friends, laugh, play, find a way to process your emotions, and keep on top of your physical and emotional health. Angels of Mercy, bring respite to my weary body, mind and spirit. Send helpful people and opportunities to me now that will lighten my load. Send your loving, calming energy to steady my nerves and revive my spirit. Send your wisdom to show me the best way to handle this busy time, and the best way to get the support I need.

When You Require the Grace of God

The grace of God is free, and something every living being as access to. An Angel of Mercy can help you recognize God’s grace, because when we are in crisis our minds can be so chaotic that grace, which can be subtle, might be hard to pick up on.

Whether grace comes as a small reprieve from the storm, or a giant miracle that leaves you feeling like the clouds are gone and the sun is shining again, Angels of Mercy can give you guidance on how to make the most of this moment of grace and encourage you to seize opportunities that were brought into your life by Spirit. Use the following prayer to realign yourself with the grace of God:

Angels of Mercy, help me see that the grace of God is never denied me and is always working in my life if I will open my eyes and recognize it. Let me feel that the grace of God touches my life every day. Let me feel worthy of this grace and embrace it.

When World Events & Headlines Are Troubling

If the larger world appears unstable it can make our own inner worlds feel just as turbulent. We can have difficulty tuning out the pain and suffering we see in the news, and have trouble knowing how to help. We can feel powerless in the face of war, famine, natural disasters, violence, injustice and hate speech.

Ask the Angels of Mercy to help insulate you from the chaos of the larger world so that you can stay grounded and centered in your own life. Also ask Angels of Mercy for specific ideas about how you can help through activism, donations, volunteering or prayer. Finally, ask the Angels of Mercy to help you stay in touch with all the blessings in your life, and all the good things that are happening in the world. You can say, think, or write in your journal something like:

Angels of Mercy, please be by my side during these unsettling times, and remind me that this is not the end of the world—even though it may feel or look that way. Send peace, love and comfort to the world, and help me realize that whatever action I take, in my own small way, I am making a significant difference.
