Is it possible for an angel to be born as a human and live their life not knowing he or she is an angel? My boyfriend swears I am an angel, but I just don't know it yet. He has shown psychic abilities and has had visions. Could there be any truth in this?
It is romantic that your boy friend thinks you are an angel. Although he may have psychic abilities and visions, he is mistaken about angels. The Bible clearly teaches that angels are not born. They are directly created as angels, and they are always aware they are angels. The word “angel” when applied to a human means one who is like an angel.
I just read the piece about angels coming to you in dreams. Well, I've never dreamt of an angel coming to me in a dream, but just recently I dreamt that I was an angel. In my dream, I was helping people, and they didn't really know that I was there. I would even hug some people, but they still wouldn't or couldn't acknowledge my presence...like they didn't know I was there. I thought humans don't become angels after they die or that angels were never humans in the first place. Anyway, what are others' thoughts are on that?
Thanks, Angela, for sending the account of your dream. How inspiring it must have been to dream you were an angel and that you were helping people in a kind of supernatural way. You were an angel in your dream—but are you an angel in real life? No. Many of our dreams have nothing to do with reality. You are correct. The Bible teaches that angels are created as angels and have never been people. Dreams are often a reflection of our wishes and desires. My opinion is that you would like to be helpful to others, doing caring deeds like an angel would do. You can’t be unseen like you were in your dream, but you can be blessed as you are a blessing to others, using the opportunities you have. Angels are meant to be an example to us. God will bless you as you follow their example.
Last night I had a dream that has me feeling so wonderful yet so confused. Perhaps I should not be giving it as much thought as I seem to be, however, it really caught my attention and I'd like your take on it. To give you a bit of background, I have been a Christian my whole life. I talk to God daily and try to make him the focal point of my life.
The dream was short and simple. There were many, many white feathers falling near me, some on my face, and there was a bright sunny light behind them. The [feathers] were multiplying in number, and eventually the white feathers formed an angel...A beautiful angel that left me feeling very peaceful...
Any advice on what this dream means?

One of the most frequently asked questions is “What does an angel look like?” The answer is that angels are spirit beings unseen by the human eye, but an angel may choose to temporarily take a form that may be seen by humans, either in a dream or when the person they are appearing to is fully awake. I have had many, many people describe angels they have seen, but never one as unique and beautiful as you have described. Cherish the memory. Here is what it means, short and simple: God loves you and has sent his angels to give you a sense of peace and to assure you he is keeping you in his care (Psalm 91:11). The Scriptures do indicate that we are engaged in spiritual warfare, and that God’s warrior angels are engaged in this warfare with evil angels (Ephesians 6.)
In the Book of Daniel, there is mention of a 'Prince of Persia,' no doubt a fallen angel of great power, who presumably exercised dominion over the heathen people of Persia. In the Book of Revelation, there is the account of war in heaven that Michael and his angels fought and won, but we are given no clue as to how the warfare was conducted. We do not know how to fight angels directly, nor do we need to know the details of how Satan's kingdom works. We are told that prayer and Scripture are the major weapons we humans are to use in spiritual warfare.
In writing fiction that describes angelic warfare, it would be necessary for you to use “sanctified imagination.” But since the Bible teaches that angels do not die, I can offer no methods, such as a stake through the heart, to kill a dangerous angel. The best fictional examples describing angelic warfare I have found is in Max Lucado’s book “An Angel’s Story,” originally published as “Cosmic Christmas.” It is included in “The Max Lucado Christmas Collection.”
Does God listen personally to our prayers or does an angel transcribe it for his eyes to view later? I've noticed God has a three day turnaround time on my prayer requests.
- Chris N.
God personally hears each prayer. Only God can do this. God is everywhere and knows all things. There is no “three day turnaround” for prayer requests. God is not behind in answering prayers. If you are in a crisis and need immediate help, you do not need to wait three days for God to answer. God answers every prayer at the time he knows is right. Some prayers are answered instantaneously; others may be answered years later.
I thought someone said that Amos was an African-American angel. Also, that he was the drunken angel. Enlighten me if I’m wrong.
- Shirley A.
The person who said that Amos was an African-American angel was confused. Angels are spirit beings and do not belong to any human racial group. Most likely the idea of “Amos” being an African-American angel can be traced back to the song written by Shawn Ellis Amos, the youngest son of Famous Amos chocolate chip cookie founder, Wally Amos. His song “Angel in Black,” with its starkly poetic lyrics, was featured in the Miramax film “The Prophecy.” Read More: Are There Black Angels?
Which angel guards the gates of Heaven?
- Jeri C.
Although there is lore about the tasks assigned to angels in heaven, the Bible never gives such information. Read More: Does Gabriel Welcome You at Heaven's Gates?
