God’s everyday blessings can often be overlooked, but with proper time and effort, you can start noticing these beautiful gifts.
The Apostle Paul says, “However, as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’—the things God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
God blesses you throughout your daily life; however, it can be hard to see these blessings at times. When you think of blessings, you might think of material blessings, such as financial provisions, a nice home, and a nice car. While these things can be wonderful gifts, God blesses His children in ways outside of materialism.
1. A Personal Relationship With Him
“The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness’” (Jeremiah 31:3).
Having a personal relationship with Jesus can often be overlooked. From the moment you placed faith in Jesus, your life changed. All your sins were forgiven and you were given eternal life (John 3:16-17). Even when everything else is falling apart around you, take hold of the everyday gift that God is blessing you with the knowledge of His Son. God called you, chose you, and declared you His own (1 Peter 2:9-10).
2. The Beauty of Creation
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).
The beauty of God’s creation is all around you. When you are in the daily battle of work, home life, projects, and chores, it is easy to overlook the beauty of God’s creation. How many times have you been working on your computer, only to realize you haven't even looked outside yet? Shifting gears and starting to notice God’s blessings can make a world of difference.
Take some time to get outside today. Even a few minutes in your backyard can be beneficial. As you are walking in God’s creation, take a deep breath and fully embrace the beauty around you. Every flower, plant, and tree you see were created by God. The blue skies, the gentle breeze, and the warm sun are all reminders of God’s love and blessings.
3. A New Start
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
God blesses you every day in the form of giving you a new start. Many people think a new start in Christ is only at the beginning of their Christian walk, but this is not true. God gives everyone a new start every day. Maybe yesterday was not the best day and you struggled with a myriad of sins. Rest in the promise that if you turn to the Lord and repent, you will be forgiven (1 John 1:9).
After you have done this, take solace in knowing you have a new start. Each day is an opportunity to try again. This everyday blessing often goes unnoticed, yet it is one of the greatest blessings of all. God doesn't treat anyone as their sins deserve, but rather, He showers all His children with His grace, love, support, and forgiveness (Psalm 103:10).
4. Your Family
It is common to take family for granted. It is not until they are gone that we begin to see how much we need them. Take a look at your own life: who is your family? Not only those you share a bloodline with, but also those who you have grown close to over time. Maybe this is your spouse, your friend, or neighbors.
God blesses you with these individuals for a reason: He loves you. He doesn't want you to spend your life by yourself. These individuals are able to lift you when you fall down and cover you with prayer when you are struggling. They check in on you when you are sick and they are a shoulder to cry on when everything becomes overwhelming. Give God thanks for these individuals today.
5. The Ability to Grow
Growth is not very pleasant. In fact, it is quite painful. However, it is often required throughout your Christian walk. Growth is a blessing in disguise as it challenges you to see God’s work in your everyday life in a unique way.
What has been causing personal growth in your life lately? Maybe it is keeping your cool when your boss is yelling at you in the office or it is knowing your worth when your parents make you feel inadequate over your schoolwork. God has given you the unique ability to grow, transform, and be molded into the person He created you to be. He has unique purposes for your life—purposes that only you can fulfill (Jeremiah 29:11).
6. Your Friends (Furry Friends Included)
“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24).
Friends are true blessings from the Lord. At times, it is common to feel as though friends become like family. The friends in your life may be humans, but they also may be furry friends, such as a pet dog, cat, rabbit, hamster, or horse. These friends are everyday blessings from the Lord. They bring more enjoyment, hope, and laughter to everyday life.
7. Everyday Provision
God also blesses you with daily provision. Your house, your food, and your warm bed are all blessings from the Lord. It is easy to take these things for granted, but it is important to give God thanks for these everyday blessings. Lift your voice in prayer today and let Him know how thankful you are for His wonderful blessings (Psalm 100:1-5).
God blesses your everyday life in many unique ways. Although it is common to overlook these blessings, you can embrace them and give praise to God for them today. A few everyday ways God blesses you is by having a personal relationship with Him, the beauty of creation, gifting you with a new start, your family, the capacity to grow, your friends, and everyday provision.
