Reflection & Meditation on Horseshoe Bay

"Horseshoe Bay, in West Vancouver, is a beautiful sheltered area which provides temporary respite from the rush of urban living, despite being home to the busy British Columbia ferry terminal. People often drive to Horseshoe Bay simply to watch the ferries come and go, and to spend time alone in quiet contemplation."

Bowness Park

"Bowness Park is a popular recreation area in Calgary, featuring a large lagoon fed by a canal from the Bow River. In summer you can paddle canoes around the lagoon and the canal, and in winter both are cleared of snow and maintained for ice skating."

Away From It All

"This painting is about the joy of sailing, a popular recreation on the West Coast. These sailors are plying the waters around the Gulf Islands, in the Strait of Georgia, which separates Vancouver Island from the lower mainland of British Columbia."

East Van Bike Ride

"These two cyclists are riding up Wall street in east Vancouver, where several small parks offer magnificent views of Burrard Inlet, Vancouver's main harbour. In the background you can see Stanley Park on the left, the Lion's Gate Bridge in the center, and North and West Vancouver ("the north shore") on the right. I'm an avid cyclist myself, and in this painting I've tried to capture the joy of cycling anywhere, especially on a balmy summer day."

Lion’s Gate Bon Voyage

"In Vancouver, people often walk or cycle out onto the Lion's Gate Bridge to watch ships entering and leaving the harbour. In this typical scene, a cruise ship is departing, its decks full of high-spirited passengers anticipating an enjoyable vacation. As the ship passes under the Lion's Gate Bridge, its passengers wave to the spectators on the bridge, who wave back, wishing them a 'Bon Voyage.'"

Early Morning on the West Coast

"I once spent a week cycling and camping with some friends in the beautiful Gulf Islands near Victoria, British Columbia. One morning I awoke very early and went outside to watch the sun come up. I remember being very impressed by the peace and serenity of that time of day. In this painting I have tried to recapture the quiet beauty of that morning in the Gulf Islands, and of early morning almost anywhere."
