Love one another!

Careless thinking is a dangerous habit. For as our thoughts go, so go our emotions. And as our emotions go, so often goes our faith. If the enemy can get me confused, he can get me discouraged. If he can get me discouraged, he can cause me to doubt. If he can make me doubt, he can distract my mind – and that’s just a step away from dividing my heart. No wonder God says our transformation must involve what Romans 12:2 calls “the renewing of your mind.” We need a mental makeover that heals our faulty assumptions and twisted thinking; our knee-jerk, and often, inappropriate emotional responses; our skewed and selfish decision making; and even the way we talk to ourselves.

Love one another!

“We were designed for intimacy,” writes Weaver in At the Feet of Jesus. “Just as our bodies hunger and thirst for food and drink, our spirits hunger and thirst for God’s presence. But just as it’s possible to bloat our bodies with empty calories, we can find ways to pacify our spiritual cravings without really getting the nourishment we need. We can fill up with spiritual Snickers bars while all the time our spirits are withering for want of real food.”
