7 Hollywood Stars That Celebrate Hanukkah

During the holidays, many families gather together to light candles on their menorahs to celebrate Hanukkah. They may observe the holiday by eating latkes (potato pancakes), spin the Dreidel and win gelt (chocolate disguised as coins), and sing songs like “Hanukkah O Hanukkah.” It’s a holy tradition that brings people from all over the world together.

Did you know that many celebrities also do these fun traditions as well?

There are Hollywood stars that identify as Jewish and also celebrate the fun holiday of Hanukkah. They join together with family to observe the Festival of Lights, and many share it with their fans through social media or other outlets. Many of these stars were raised in traditionally Jewish households, or even were born in Israel. It’s no surprise that they are proud of their heritage and faith.

Here are some of the well-known celebrities that celebrate Hanukkah and aren’t afraid to be Jewish.

Actor Seth Rogen was also born to Jewish parents and attended a Jewish school. His father is the assistant director of the Workmen's Circle Jewish fraternal organization, and his parents met in Israel. Rogen has described his parents as radical Jewish socialists, but despite this still has connections to the faith. Rogen, who is well known for his humor, once shared a picture of his dog celebrating Hanukkah on the show “Live! With Kelly and Michael.” He joked during the show that he “converted her” to the faith. In addition, his early comedy routines involved jokes about his bar mitzvah, his grandparents, and the faith. During his teen years he also would perform stand-up at places like bar mitzvahs.
