When We Experience Grief and Suffering
“When Jesus saw her [Mary] weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. And he said, ‘Where have you laid him [Lazarus]?’ They said to him, ‘Lord, come and see.’ Jesus wept.” –John 11: 33-35
God has healing power, but God does not always answer our prayers with a “yes.” He is aware of our grief and suffering and does not want to see us in pain.
In the book of John, Mary and others are mourning the death of Lazarus. Although he later rose from the dead, Jesus still felt Mary’s and the other mourner’s pain, and was “deeply moved.” Our inflictions from seeing a loved one pass or experiencing grief does not go unnoticed. God understands.
