For Unto Us a Savior is Born!

Listen to the words that the Archangel Gabriel proclaimed in Luke 1:14-17: “And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great before the Lord. And he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children!" Gabriel made this incredible announcement to a lower level clergyman in God’s Holy Temple. The message? “That his elderly, barren wife Elizabeth would miraculously bear a son,” writes Vining. He’s part of the team behind the animated film, “The Promise,” by Glorious Films. In the film, Gabriel sings to Mary: “Zechariah, your prayers have been heard. Your wife, Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will name him John. He will turn many back to God, to prepare them for the Messiah.”

In the days that followed, Mary took her newborn to the Temple. There, she had no way of knowing that an elderly, righteous man named Simeon was waiting patiently on the Lord – who had promised he would see the Messiah before he died. “When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to be dedicated, Simeon met them in the temple courts,” writes Vining, “and was overjoyed with God’s faithfulness to keep his promise. In his song, called the Nunc Dimittis, he cries, ‘Lord, now your servant can depart in peace, For my eyes have seen your salvation, prepared in the presence of all peoples, a revelation to all the nations, and glory to Israel’( Luke 2:29-32) .
