As the creator of a major national weight loss and fitness program I have seen may people treat their bodies and their health as an expendable resource that they can abuse without consequences. Some sins are pretty blatant. For example, we all know murder is wrong. The same holds true for adultery.

However, many Christians tend to ignore sins of the body. Perhaps they seem less harmless. In God’s eyes, however, they are not. Lust for food is one of the biggest temptations this country faces. If your health is spiraling out of control, now is the time for a reality check. While the Bible clearly states how we are to treat others and live a righteous and moral life, it does not shy away from telling us how we are to live in our own bodies, too.

On Being Healthy…

One of our clients, Sharon lost all 10 of her immediate family members to obesity before she made a change. She just recently took her last sister off the ventilator a few months ago. According to the Bible, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. 1 Corinthians 3:17 warns that, “If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.” The word “temple” does not refer to an actual building or other physical structure. In God’s eyes, our bodies are our temple. When we use things to harm it, we ruin the very thing God created.
