What is an abundant life? Does it mean having incredible success and material possessions? While this might make you feel great for a while, we can have a much more meaningful, abundant life with Jesus Christ. One that will make us truly feel like we are living.

Does Christ promise earthly riches? There are verses that would seem to do just that. But more than that, He promises happiness, peace and contentment. Our hearts, souls and minds can be at peace if we seek to listen to and follow Him. The Bible is full of incredible assurances that God will protect and provide. Not only that, His provision will be generous and wonderful.

Here are 21 Bible verses that show us what it means to live a life with God, and what it’s like to be given the abundant, fulfilling blessings from Him.

John 1:1-5

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:1-5)

God blessed us with Jesus Christ, which makes us the luckiest people in the galaxy. This Bible verse explains to us what Jesus’ relationship to the Lord, the world, and to Christians is. Jesus is the ultimate life and light in the world. He is the true Son of God. Without Him, we would not be able to survive life after death, or thrive on earth.

Psalm 1:1-3

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” (Psalm 1:1-3)

Without doubt God is absolutely faithful in keeping His promises. So as you are confronted by difficult situations in the coming year, commit yourself to seeking Him, observing His commands, watching for His help, maintaining your focus on Him, recalling His faithfulness, and embracing His word found in bible verses. When we choose to follow His council, instead of that of society or other false prophets, we are blessed with an abundant life.

1 Timothy 6:18-19

Living an abundant life is only possible through accepting Jesus Christ. One way we can authentically live the Christian life, and absorb all the blessings from Christ, is by generously sharing the treasure of God’s love. This helps us build a strong relationship with Christ. One where we can more easily rely on Him, trust in Him, and understand His actions. Anything that will strengthen our intimate relationship with the Lord will be good for both ourselves and others.
