Warnings the End is Here

Doomsday is a constant buzz worthy topic for Christians. Everyone wants to know whether or not they are witnessing the signs of the end. Horrific mass shootings, severe weather conditions, and disease outbreak proposes the question of the end on a daily basis.

The Bible makes it very clear that no human being will know the day the world will end. But it does say that there will be signs when Jesus’ return is approaching. However, the signs are not spelled out and more widely based on interpretation within the Bible. Signs of Jesus’ return are mentioned in Matthew 24, Luke 17, and Luke 21. Of those, Matthew 24:15-16 is the most blatant mention, “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel – let the understand – then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains…”

Nevertheless, the curiosity levels of human beings on earth is not appeased with undefined signs. Christians can only make educated guesses based on the Bible and the occurrences happening actively taking place. Here’s what we think.

Fake News

The saturation of fake news has created many problems. The issues fake news and social media created with the 2016 presidential election will, without a doubt, find its way in our children’s history books. The uncertainty created by fake news and the ability for news to go viral is frightening. 1 Corinthians 15:33 states, “Do not be deceived: Bad company ruins good morals.”

Think about it. How often are situations ruined by others not willing to be respectful? Everyone relies on the news. Technology and the ability for news to go viral within social media and the Internet has drastically changed the legitimacy of news.

The public is constantly in question of whether or not a news alert is a hoax. Media outlets are guilty of publishing super sensationalized headlines to drive clicks and open rates. These words are then featured on social media newsfeeds and many people glaze over those words – causing them to falsely believe what is presented by other human beings.

Mother Nature

In 2018, researchers found that on average each person in the world produces 4.4 pounds of trash a day. Just a heads up, there are 7.53 billion people on the planet. Scary, right? As technology has progressed, new recycling methods have been developed; however, the cost of recycling has detoured some humans – coupled with the ignorance of not knowing the real state of our planet.

When you add the crisis of global warning and other environmental issues regarding petroleum and emission pollution, the issues continue to unfold. Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastic is dumped in the ocean. These stats are not meant to scare you, but there are a lot of variables when it comes to mother nature and the daily abuse human beings have implicated upon her.

Every day humans are adding to the insurmountable problems of pollution. While there are several organizations and people attempting to take action, one can only wonder if it is too late.

Religious Persecution

The warning of religious persecution is a factor high on the list for Christians. Researchers have invested a lot of their time to the matter. According to a Yale study, 50 million people from the Middle East and Asia have been displaced because of the religious persecution in their homeland.

Humans are taking action against other humans. Not only are they murdering innocent people, but they are casting judgment on strangers without even speaking one word to them. From mass shootings at a mosque in New Zealand to a church bombing in Sri Lanka, religious persecution is taking place every day. How do we stop it? No one knows. Victims and their families desperately plead on for the horrific acts to stop but those pleas only fuel the antagonists. And of course, these hateful crimes cause people to question God’s existence.

John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Still many question, are these terrible things a warning of the end?

Illnesses

Did you know one in three people will get cancer in their lifetime? Did you know one in six women will experience a miscarriage or infant-loss? Did you know 35 million people have died from HIV? Those stats are just some of the life-threatening diagnoses people receive on a daily basis. There are so many other diseases – some without a cure and other without the funding for research. The numbers are scary and in many cases the patients and their families are wondering – why?

There is a screening for just about everything and even the healthiest people are being diagnosed with medical cases they never thought were possible. Ultimately, there isn’t much society can do. Doctors and medical boards can continue to do the research and develop medications, but that costs money. Organizations can continue to raise money for research, but will it ever truly be enough.

Super Volcanoes

Sounds like fake news, right? Super volcanoes. But, they are very real natural wonder. Super volcanoes are also referred to as calderas – and they are basically a super real time bomb on the planet, ticking away. Yellowstone Park is home to a super volcano. Geologists believe the volcano is capable of an eruption a thousand times more powerful than Mount Saint Helens. If the volcano erupted, the entire United States could be covered in ash and the seismic waves could trigger a new ice age.

There are about 20 known super volcanoes on earth. Scientists believe these eruptions generally take place ever 100,000 years on average. It is believed that the most recent eruption was in New Zealand’s Taupo Volcano about 26,500 years ago.

The warnings that the end is here are completely on a case-by-case basis and completely subjective to opinion. There will be some people who believe Doomsday is the furthest thing from tomorrow and others are assessing their own bunkers. Ultimately, scripture also mirrors the same variables. Matthew 24:7 says, “For national shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.” But before that Matthew 24:6 says, “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.”

Christians will all vary on what is a real warning and what is not. The question of the end will always propose more questions.
