When you have to travel the rugged roads of life, do you let go of the wheel, give it to God and let Him navigate the way as well, or do you try to maintain control on your own? Offering all our trials and worries in life to God and trusting Him in those difficult times is often easier said than done. It isn’t very comforting at times.

Most of us have heard the saying ‘let go and let God,’ but not many people tell us how. How do you let God be in control when you are going through a mess, and every fiber of your being wants to hold onto the wheel. It can be easy to let your problems keep you up at night, but you should rest in the fact that God is in control, and you can give your problems to Him.

What does it mean to give it to God?

Giving it to God means placing your trust in Him, letting Him have control and take it entirely from you. When you give something to another person, you must let go of it and allow them to take control of it. You must do the same with God. Hand it over to Him and stop fighting to keep control of it. It also means trusting Him and His character enough to know that He answers us.

How to let go and let God.

Letting go and letting God is a daily, moment-by-moment choice. Like every discipline in life, we must learn to surrender and give it to God. The enemy seeks every new day to cloud our minds with worries, doubts, and fears. The devil wants no room left for God in our lives. Letting go and letting God becomes a daily lifestyle of giving it all to Him.

Whenever the ugly hairs of negative thoughts seek to invade our space, we must cut them and give them to God immediately. God’s mercies are new every morning, so what happened yesterday, last year, or a decade ago is completely gone. Carrying the past around will only take up space for God’s goodness, grace, and favor. Renewing our minds in Christ means letting go of all the burdens He died to take from us.

Let go and let God have control. Let go and let God have your worry and . Let go and let God have your finances. Let go and let God have your future. Don’t let your anxieties keep you up at night. Here are some ways to let go and give your problems to God.

Start each day by giving it to God.

When you're dealing with something, you tend to let your thoughts get the best of you. Instead of taking your thoughts into the new day, leave them in the past. Do not take yesterday’s mistakes into the clean slate of today. Mentally shave off every worry, doubt, fear, mistake, and anxiety from your mind each morning.

Give it to God by starting each day with prayer.

Speak to God. Yes, the day is full of responsibilities, but you should talk to God before doing anything else. Acknowledge Him. Tell Him that you love Him. Tell Him that you are thankful for Jesus'  sacrifice for your life. Invite God’s Spirit to guide you that day. Before you talk to anyone, speak to God. He will set your day on the right path.

Give it to God by starting each day with Scripture.

Open your Bible and read where you left off from the previous day. Grab your phone and use a Bible App. Look through your emails and find encouraging verses that are sent to you. The Bible is living and active and like cool water for your thirsty soul.

Give it to God by surrounding yourself with encouragement.

You will never make it alone. It would be best to have people who speak truth into your life. You can also listen to podcasts, read books, watch videos and listen to Christian music that boosts your faith and encourages your spirit. Always be on the lookout for people and recourses that you can add as spiritual buffers in your life.

Give it to God by renewing your mind continually.

The world will constantly try to add worries to your day, so you must maintain your spiritual health. Continually surrender those worries to God. Trust and believe that God is for you. He loves you and wants only the best for you. When you let go, you can fully rest in His strength. You don’t have to worry. The Creator of the World is on your side.

Sometimes negative thoughts have become a part of our natural thought processes that we don’t know we can give to God. However, God needs space to move in our lives. We can clear out all the debris clogging up our minds and learn to surrender to Him.

Giving something over to God isn’t like waving a magic wand. It is acknowledging that God has the best plan for redemption. That He knows better than you, and He is the only one who can handle this in the way it needs managing. Often, when we give things over to God, He takes us on a journey to a deeper issue that needs His tenderness, truth, and love, a place that needs healing. God is interested in that spot.

Many people let their problems keep them up at night. They toss and turn, wondering how they’re going to fix whatever issue they’re fighting. Maybe they’re having financial problems, or their relationship isn’t in the best place. Little do they know, God can solve all of their problems if they allow Him into their lives. Instead of letting your struggles keep you up at night, try giving your issues to God and going to sleep. Pray to God and ask Him to take over your life and let Him have His way. By the time you wake up in the morning, you’ll feel refreshed, like you can take on the world. Some people have issues with control, but you have to trust in God and realize that He knows what He’s doing. He wants to help with your problems, so let Him into your life and rest.
