Strategies the Devil Uses To Sabotage You

Lies

“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

This verse from the Book of John tells us that the Devil is not only a liar, but also that he is the father of lies, meaning that has a very advanced and skilled proficiency in this act of deception. He will tell you lies so that you rely on Him, not the Father. One of the biggest lies he wants you to subscribe to is that he is stronger than God, and that it’s ok to fall victim to sin, the flesh and weakness. He wants you to carry out his desires and will try to get you to see lies as truth, when that truth has no merit.

Deception

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3: 4-5

Once of the first Bible stories many of us learned was the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, where we saw the power of the Devil’s deception and the sabotage it can cause. He planted so many “what ifs” in Adam and Eve's minds, that they didn’t resist temptation. The Devil wants you to believe that God’s Word and his promises are not true. If you buy into the idea that the Word of God isn’t true, then you don’t need to obey God. If you start believing his Word is partly true, riddled with errors and fiction, it gives you more grounds to sin, out of accordance with God’s will for us.
