Matthew

Chapter 26

Judas Agrees to Hand Over Jesus
14: Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15: and said, "What will you give me if I deliver him to you?" And they paid him thirty pieces of silver.
16: And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him.

Jesus Reveals Judas as His Betrayer (The Last Supper)
17: Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Where will you have us prepare for you to eat the passover?"
18: He said, "Go into the city to a certain one, and say to him, `The Teacher says, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at your house with my disciples.'"
19: And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the passover.
20: When it was evening, he sat at table with the twelve disciples;
21: and as they were eating, he said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me."
22: And they were very sorrowful, and began to say to him one after another, "Is it I, Lord?"
23: He answered, "He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me, will betray me.

24: The Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born."
25: Judas, who betrayed him, said, "Is it I, Master?" He said to him, "You have said so."

Judas Identifies Jesus with a Kiss
47: While he [Jesus] was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people.
48: Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "The one I shall kiss is the man; seize him."
49: And he came up to Jesus at once and said, "Hail, Master!" And he kissed him.
50: Jesus said to him, "Friend, why are you here?" Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him.

Chapter 27

Judas Regrets His Actions
1: When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death;
2: and they bound him and led him away and delivered him to Pilate the governor.
3: When Judas, his betrayer, saw that he was condemned, he repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders,
4: saying, "I have sinned in betraying innocent blood." They said, "What is that to us? See to it yourself."
5: And throwing down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed; and he went and hanged himself.
6: But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since they are blood money."
7: So they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
8: Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.
9: Then was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel,
10: and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord directed me."

Chapter 14

Judas Agrees to Hand Over Jesus
1: It was now two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth, and kill him;
2: for they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be a tumult of the people."

10: Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them.
11: And when they heard it they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought an opportunity to betray him.

Jesus Predicts His Death (The Last Supper)
12: And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the passover lamb, his disciples said to him, "Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the passover?"
13: And he sent two of his disciples, and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him,
14: and wherever he enters, say to the householder, `The Teacher says, Where is my guest room, where I am to eat the passover with my disciples?'
15: And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us." 16: And the disciples set out and went to the city, and found it as he had told them; and they prepared the passover.
17: And when it was evening he came with the twelve.
18: And as they were at table eating, Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me."
19: They began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one after another, "Is it I?"
20: He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread into the dish with me.
21: For the Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born."

Judas Identifies Jesus with a Kiss
43: And immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
44: Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "The one I shall kiss is the man; seize him and lead him away under guard."
45: And when he came, he went up to him at once, and said, "Master!" And he kissed him.
46: And they laid hands on him and seized him.

Chapter 22

Satan Enters Judas
1: Now the feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover.
2: And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to put him to death; for they feared the people.
3: Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve;
4: he went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray him to them.
5: And they were glad, and engaged to give him money.
6: So he agreed, and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of the multitude.

Jesus Reveals His Betrayer (The Last Supper)
17: And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, "Take this, and divide it among yourselves;
18: for I tell you that from now on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."
19: And he took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me."
20: And likewise the cup after supper, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
21: But behold the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.
22: For the Son of man goes as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!"
23: And they began to question one another, which of them it was that would do this.

Judas Identifies Jesus with a Kiss
45: And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow,
46: and he said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation."
47: While he was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him;
48: but Jesus said to him, "Judas, would you betray the Son of man with a kiss?"

JOHN

Chapter 13

Satan Enters Judas
1: Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2: And during supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him,
3: Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God,
4: rose from supper, laid aside his garments, and girded himself with a towel.

Jesus Reveals Judas as His Betrayer (The Last Supper)
21: When Jesus had thus spoken, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, "Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me."
22: The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke.
23: One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was lying close to the breast of Jesus;
24: so Simon Peter beckoned to him and said, "Tell us who it is of whom he speaks."
25: So lying thus, close to the breast of Jesus, he said to him, "Lord, who is it?"
26: Jesus answered, "It is he to whom I shall give this morsel when I have dipped it." So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.
27: Then after the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly."

28: Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him.
29: Some thought that, because Judas had the money box, Jesus was telling him, "Buy what we need for the feast"; or, that he should give something to the poor.
30: So, after receiving the morsel, he immediately went out; and it was night.

Chapter 18

Judas Leads the Chief Priests to Jesus
1: When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples across the Kidron valley, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered.
2: Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with his disciples.
3: So Judas, procuring a band of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, went there with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4: Then Jesus, knowing all that was to befall him, came forward and said to them, "Whom do you seek?"
5: They answered him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am he." Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.
6: When he said to them, "I am he," they drew back and fell to the ground.
7: Again he asked them, "Whom do you seek?" And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth."
8: Jesus answered, "I told you that I am he; so, if you seek me, let these men go."
9: This was to fulfil the word which he had spoken, "Of those whom thou gavest me I lost not one."
