Roma Downey
Roma Downey played Monica for all nine seasons of Touched by an Angel, becoming the show’s main star and earning several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her work.
After the show ended in 2003, Downey kept acting but also started working more as a producer, focusing on faith-based projects. In 2007, she married TV producer Mark Burnett, and Della Reese, her former co-star, officiated their wedding.
Downey and Burnett went on to produce the hit 2013 miniseries The Bible, where Downey played Mary, the mother of Jesus. They also made the movie Son of God and other faith-based projects like A.D. The Bible Continues, Ben-Hur, and On a Wing and a Prayer.
Downey has kept acting, too. Most recently, she played Elizabeth Baxter in The Baxters, a TV show based on Karen Kingsbury’s bestselling books.
