Looking back, these shows offer a reminder of how naturally faith once appeared on mainstream television.

Sometimes that meant a family praying together or going to church. Other times, storylines explored forgiveness, heaven, angels or belief in God. Faith didn't always take center stage, but it was allowed to be part of the characters, their struggles and the stories being told.

For many viewers, those moments may be just as nostalgic as the familiar characters, theme songs and catchphrases.
