Unlike some of the other shows on this list, "Highway to Heaven" built spiritual themes directly into the show's premise. In this classic drama, Jonathan Smith (played by Michael Landon) is an angel on probation sent back to Earth by God to help people navigate severe hardships.

He is disguised as an ordinary handyman who uses empathy and wisdom to guide humans toward their own redemption. The show focuses on themes such as God, compassion, forgiveness, second chances, and the value of human life.

Season three features one of the most overtly religious episodes of the series, "A Father's Faith." It captures the grief and guilt of a family dealing with a son in a coma. The story focuses heavily on deep spiritual struggles and faith.
