A teenage boy from a complex background finds love and the gospel when he inadvertently attends a Christian summer camp. It’s an entertaining faith-based musical that has the feel and look of a Disney production, even though that Hollywood giant wasn’t involved. This film, filled with reimagined Christian contemporary tunes, stars Kevin Quinn and Bailee Madison. It’s a lovely movie that encourages redemption, forgiveness, and second chances.
"Vivo"
A kinkajou goes on a dangerous trek across the Atlantic Ocean when tragedy affects his owner. This fascinating animated musical stars the talented Lin-Manuel Miranda as the voice of the kinkajou named Vivo, and newcomer Ynairaly Simo stars as Vivo’s friend, Gabi. There are plenty of laughs and toe-tapping fun but also valuable lessons on friendship, self-worth, tragedy and family.
"Penguin Bloom"
A woman who was paralyzed during a vacation incident remembers the joys of life when she cares for an injured magpie. This movie is based on the true story of Sam Bloom, an Australian woman who became an expert at adaptive surfing after she lost all movement from the chest down. It’s a heart wrenching movie about finding hope in tragedy. Due to adult themes and minor language, this one may be best for teens.
"Blue Miracle"
An orphanage facing financial issues is given a second chance when its residents enter Bisbee’s Black & Blue Fishing Tournament, one of the most profitable fishing contests in the world. This inspiring faith-based film is based on a true story and has a great message on second chances and fatherhood. It stars Dennis Quaid and Jimmy Gonzales. Reach Records produced the soundtrack. This movie included minor language.
"Jingle Jangle"
A young girl helps her once-creative grandfather find his will to live again and his inventive magic when she finds a talking robot buried away in storage. “Jingle Jangle” is a live-action musical about a man named Jeronicus, who used to be the world’s greatest toy-maker as a young man before a sneaky apprentice stole his inventions book. This film stars Keegan-Michael Key, Forest Whitaker, and Hugh Bonneville.
