6 Celebrities Who Are Openly Pro-Life

It’s not easy being pro-life in Tinseltown. Hollywood is notorious for liberal politics and actors and actresses who push all sorts of political causes that they believe are politically correct or popular at the time. But when it comes to abortion, a few Hollywood celebrities and entertainment icons are willing to speak out and say they are pro-life. In 2015, mainstream media reported many top Hollywood stars supported Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides reproductive health services to women, including abortion, throughout the U.S. Not as well publicized were the names and views of Hollywood celebrities who oppose abortion. For each of these celebrities, their pro-life stance is very personal and they are extremely dedicated to the cause. Here are six celebrities who are openly pro-life. Some of the names will surprise you.

Jack Nicholson

The legendary actor is unlike many liberals in Tinseltown. Nicholson, a staunch pro-lifer said in an interview about abortion, “I’m positively against it. I don’t have the right to any other view.” Nicholson’s anti-abortion stance is a deeply personal one: his mother who had him when she was a teenager was pressured to have an abortion and didn’t. It was the moral character of his mother and grandmother that stopped the abortion from happening. When asked about the abortion in a previous Rolling Stone interview, he said his only emotion was one of gratitude. “[If June and Ethel had been] of less character, I never would have gotten to live. These women gave me the gift of life.”

Justin Bieber

When Justin Bieber’s mother got pregnant, she was encouraged by many to go through with an abortion. Before her pregnancy, she had suffered sexual abuse and at his parent’s young age, they thought this might be the best decision. But they couldn’t follow through it and brought their little son into the world. Bieber has been very vocal in the media about his anti-abortion stance. In a 2011 interview, when asked about abortion, Bieber said, “I really don’t believe in abortion. I think [an embryo] is human. It’s like killing a baby.” Today, Justin’s mom also speaks publically and is open about her story in hopes that she can be an influence to others who are in similar situations.

Patricia Heaton

Patricia Heaton is an outspoken Republican who has shared her views on a number of hot-button topics in interviews. She has said she is against abortion, though she approaches the subject with compassion. When interviewed about the topic, Heaton said. “It’s a very sensitive subject, so you want to be sensitive so that in whatever you’re saying you could be really, deeply affecting somebody within listening distance.” Heaton was raised Catholic and is a rare, vocal pro-life advocate in Hollywood. She also advocates for life as the honorary chairwoman of Feminists for Life, a pro-woman, pro-life group that works to find solutions to abortion that affirm the dignity of women. One of the main reasons for her pro-life advocacy is that she supports women. The actress often uses her Twitter page to speak out for unborn babies.

Tim Tebow

It’s hard to not admire NFL quarterback Tim Tebow for his faith on and off the field. His courageousness and love for God and life may have a lot to do with the way he came into the world: as a miracle baby. When his mother fell into a coma when she contracted a life-threatening disease during her pregnancy, the medicines she was receiving caused a severe placental abruption, which began to have an impact on her child. Her doctors recommended an abortion given they thought he would be stillborn and she was at risk endangering her life, but her faith in God called her to go against her doctor’s orders. She carried him to full term and he was born a healthy boy. Tebow once appeared in an anti-abortion ad during the Super Bowl. In the ad, Tebow and his mother told the story of how his mother chose not to have an abortion, leading to Tebow existing today.
