On June 8, superstar actor Chris Pratt and lifestyle author Katherine Schwarzenegger tied the knot. The couple had been admired in Hollywood leading up to the nuptials, and has been considered role models for many. The pair also shares their faith in God proudly, despite being in the spotlight.

While they haven’t been married for long, the couple is already proving that they are living out their marriage for the Lord. They are proof that God can transform the lives of people and give them amazing blessings. Here are some of the ways we can emulate a God-fearing marriage too.

They met at church.

Given the famous circles that this couple travels in, you might expect them to have met at a party or opening night for one of Pratt’s movies. Their actual meeting place, however, couldn’t be farther away from the glamour of Hollywood.

Pratt said in an interview with Extra that they met at church. Schwarzenegger’s mom Maria Shriver apparently introduced them. Attending church was a big part of their dating life. They were even spotted sharing a kiss after a service that they attended with Pratt’s son Jack. Meeting and getting to know each other at church was a good start for this special couple because it turns out that faith was going to be a big part of their relationship.

"Chris was taking things slow with Katherine at first," said a source to E! News. This gave the couple the time they needed to really get to know each other and grow together.

Pratt and Schwarzenegger apparently "refused to live together" until they got engaged as well, citing their religious beliefs. A source told The Sun: “They’re both very devout – that’s one of the reasons their relationship works so well – and are very committed to their faith. Some of their early dates were even at church – so Katherine would have refused to live with him until they made the commitment to getting married."

They shared God at their wedding.

“They’re going to want a religious wedding,” a source said to People Magazine prior to the date. “I know that Chris does, and I assume that she does, too. God is going to be a part of this marriage.”

And a religious wedding is what they had. Pratt announced the nuptials in an Instagram post along with a photo of the couple walking hand-in-hand. He wrote they were married Saturday "in front of God, our families and those we love." Though it was a very small and intimate affair, they chose to make God a part of it.

They had a strong faith before dating.

Having a strong relationship with Christ first, before jumping into the dating scene, can help create a better foundation for future relationships. Pratt has long been open about his faith, expressing his belief in God at awards shows and on social media. The actor previously said he feels “called” to talk about it. Given his large fan base, it’s incredible that he is willing to share the Lord with the masses.

"I would not be here with the ease and grace I have in my heart without my lord and savior, Jesus Christ," Chris said while accepting the Teen Choice surfboard last year.

Schwarzenegger, meanwhile, was raised Catholic but has attended nondenominational Christian churches with her family, including her mother and brother, over the years. She has also been open about discussing her beliefs on social media, often quoting religious text and verses. She shared a photo on Instagram this past year of a beautiful sunset, with the caption "God shot."

When the couple did start dating, they carried that faith into the relationship. Pratt and Schwarzenegger apparently "refused to live together" until they got engaged as well, citing their religious beliefs. A source told The Sun: “They’re both very devout – that’s one of the reasons their relationship works so well – and are very committed to their faith. Some of their early dates were even at church – so Katherine would have refused to live with him until they made the commitment to getting married." The source further added that Pratt had “prayed” before asking Schwarzenegger to marry him.

They share God in their marriage.

Now that Schwarzenegger and Pratt are settling into married life, it’s clear that an important part of their attraction is the values they share. The most important one is probably their shared religion. They both speak publicly together about their faith often, even in things as simple as referring to God when appreciating the small blessings they receive from God. The couple prays together, attends church together, and keeps their focus on God.

They are both passionate about their faith.

According to a source that spoke to People, Pratt admires the fact that Schwarzenegger is passionate about what she believes and comfortable talking about it. Pratt is also happy to mention his beliefs, making them a great match.

“They click on a lot of levels, but definitely on a spiritual level,” the source says. “They have the same outlook on the world, and their faith ties them together. He’s really impressed that she’s vocal and unashamed about her beliefs in God, because that’s how he is. He’s constantly around other people who have no faith or are apologetic about it, but not her. She is willing to talk about it to anyone who will listen.”

Their close connection to God is clearly an important part of how they navigate the ups and downs of life. Pratt has said: “God is good. God heals the broken heart.” Whatever heartbreak or joy may be ahead for this couple, they seem like they are ready to weather it together, drawing strength from their shared faith and from each other.
