I’m here in Napa, getting ready to go to Mass, offered by..,Cardinal Mahony.

Well, that will be a first for me.

Then it’s dinner at a winery and back here at 1am my time or so…

On the plane, I read the requisite two books, plus got some more of my Papal States book read – up to Gregory VII – finally! and pondered big old crater-type things – ancient lakebeds? – in Nevada. I tried to take a picture, but I was sort of looking backwards and feeling rather lame about being so gauche as to be taking photos through the plane window, and I don’t think it came out.
