LaSalle Academy in Philadelphia…educating the poorest of the poor. From the reader who passed it on, who also noted that tuition is $200 a year.
Today I visited the LaSalle Academy in Philadelphia’s poorest (yet most gentrified) nieghboorhood. I was asked to advise them on a construction project. This school is 3 years old and is being constructed in a huge former convent. Their mission is serve the poorest of the poor, and the average family income of the students is $11,400 for four people.
Naturally, it is a labor of love, unattached to any church organization. Would you please let your readers know about this wonderful project? They can access the website at
One interesting fact is the daily attendance rate of 96%.
