As I said earlier, I can’t possibly put up a post for every story about every diocesan reaction to the abuse report (which is still more than a week away from formal release.) But if I find some that seem to point to larger issues (well, they all do, but…maybe some that haven’t been discussed before) or point out interesting heretofore unknown facts, I will post them, and I invite you to send me links of stories with particularly telling angles.

Here’s one:

What happened to Archbishop Sanchez?

A national investigation into sex abuse within the Roman Catholic Church is shedding some light on the mysterious disappearance of a former New Mexico archbishop.

Robert Sanchez left the archdiocese in disgrace in 1993, after five women accused him of sexual contact when they were teenagers. Sanchez’s whereabouts remained largely unknown and he never admitted or denied the claims of the five women. He was never found guilty of any offense.

Friday, the archbishop of Anchorage, Alaska, revealed that Sanchez has been ministering to Hispanics there. There was mixed reaction to the news from parishioners at Immaculate Conception Church who spoke to Action 7 News.
