In some developing countries in Africa, mobile carriers double as banks. Transfers and payments are as simple as a text message. In Japan, mobile devices are equipped with the nifty NFC chip. Just wave it over a retailers scanner and, ta-da, your yen disappears. Apple has reserved a nook in the iPhone 5 for this little guy. No more hassle of digging for a debit card and then sliding it through the machine. We all know how inconvenient that is. Now if I could just get one implanted into the back of my hand.
