Bruce Springsteen gets a lot of credit for being “The Boss.”  His local workman-like persona has defined the heart of American rock music for a couple of decades now.  The Boss has never left behind his fabled E Street Band, and a fixture in that band was the “Big Man” Clarence Clemons.  When the Big Man passed away yesterday it left a void in rock that few musicians could claim.  Clarence spoke through his saxophone louder than most can with their voices, with his soulful arrangements often taking Bruce Springsteen’s songs to the next level.  There are a lot of people who play the sax, but not a lot of them who play like Clarence Clemons

U2 would agree.
