Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have officially expanded their family once again, surprising fans with the announcement that they’ve welcomed their third child together — a baby boy named Nautas Madden.

The couple shared the unexpected news on May 4th with an Instagram post from Madden, who revealed both the birth and the baby’s distinctive name in a heartfelt message.

“Cameron and I are happy, excited, and feeling so BLESSED to announce the birth of our third child, Nautas Madden. Welcome to the world, son!!” Madden wrote.

The post included artwork featuring a pirate ship labeled “Nautas Madden,” along with drawings of a cardinal, a plant, and a series of symbolic playing cards. One card explained the meaning behind the unusual name, describing Nautas as “sailor, navigator, voyager, one who embarks on a journey and fears not the unknown.”

Another card included the message: “Every great legend begins with a single voyage. Chart your own course. Keep your compass true. The world is yours.”

Diaz responded to her husband’s post with a string of red heart emojis.

The famously private couple, who married in 2015, did not publicly announce they were expecting another child. They are already parents to daughter Raddix Wildflower Madden, 6, and son Cardinal Madden, 2.

Over the years, Diaz and Madden have made it clear they want to keep their children largely out of the spotlight. When announcing the birth of Raddix in 2020, the couple wrote that they felt a “strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy.”

“We won’t be posting pictures or sharing more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would say RAD,” they joked at the time.

They took a similar approach when welcoming Cardinal in 2024, once again choosing not to share photos publicly.

Although Diaz rarely discusses her children in interviews, she has spoken candidly about motherhood and becoming a parent later in life. During a 2022 interview with BBC Radio 2, the actress acknowledged that many moms her age are “literally 20 years younger.”

“But I want to feel vital like that for my child,” Diaz explained.

She also joked in a past interview with Naomi Campbell that becoming a mother later in life comes with one major goal.

“The only pressure for me is like I have to live to be, like 107, you know? So no pressure!” she said.

Diaz has also openly discussed the challenges of parenting young children. During an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” she encouraged parents to show grace when they make mistakes.

“If you do blow up, just say, ‘Oh, my God. Mommy lost her s–t,’” Diaz said, adding that children are not “actively trying to be bad.”

“My job is to just help her find the words to her emotions,” she explained. “Help her identify that and then move through it.”

For now, the couple appears focused on enjoying life as a family of five. As Madden wrote in his announcement, “We love life with our family — our kids are healthy & happy, and we are grateful.”
