Grammy-winning Christian singer Tori Kelly is officially a mom! The 32-year-old artist and her husband, André Murillo, recently welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Zayden Michael Murillo. The couple shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting tender photos of their newborn’s tiny feet and a sweet moment of him lying beside their family dogs.

The singer’s fans flooded the comments with congratulations and prayers for the new family of three. Kelly, who has often called her music and life “a gift from God,” seems to be soaking in every precious moment of motherhood.

Back in July, the “Should’ve Been Us” artist told People magazine that her year was already filled with blessings — performing alongside Ed Sheeran, writing her most personal songs yet, and preparing to become a mom. “This year has already been full of highs — getting to perform in stadiums all summer, writing the most personal songs of my career, and now getting to start a family with my amazing husband,” she said. “We are just so grateful for what’s to come and can’t wait to meet this little gift from God.”

Her excitement continued to shine throughout her pregnancy. In August, Kelly posted a photo wearing a cross necklace while cradling her baby bump to announce her new single, “Make a Baby.” She wrote, “This song perfectly captures the joy I’ve been feeling throughout my pregnancy… Every time it plays, I can’t help but smile — I still can’t believe this is my real life. Releasing new music in the middle of such a beautiful season feels extra special.”

Kelly and Murillo, who began dating in 2016 and married two years later, have long been open about their faith and gratitude to God. Their marriage, Kelly once said, was “the most magical day ever.”

Her journey to motherhood comes after a difficult health battle in 2023, when she was hospitalized for life-threatening blood clots. After her recovery, she spoke about feeling “amazing” and said the experience changed her outlook on life. “When I look at just my life, my career and getting to go on these tours, I’m just like, ‘I don’t want to take anything for granted because life… is so fragile,’” Kelly said. “I’m just holding people a little closer.”

Kelly’s Christian faith remains the foundation of her life. In a 2021 interview with The Christian Post, she said, “My faith is a big part of who I am… It’s been such a part of my life, in my childhood growing up, and at a certain point, it became very personal to me.” She shared that Psalm 91:4 — “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge” — has guided her through many seasons, reminding her that she’s “loved by God.”

Now, as Kelly and Murillo embrace their new chapter as parents, that same faith seems to be guiding them once again. Their baby boy, Zayden, truly is — as Kelly said — “a little gift from God.”
